The flamingo - the power of metaphor

Did you know that the flamingo is an extraordinary bird that has its own unique system of communicating with fellow flamingos? It does a special dance, which is thought to be its mating dance, and then it takes off in flight. Flamingo comes from the word ‘flame’, and in ayurvedic understanding that is the part of us that has the power to transform. It brings all the atoms together and creates an impulse of nervous reaction, feelings and thought processes. So when I chose the flamingo as my metaphor for myself and for my work in my own training, I chose from an unconscious part of myself, and I believe that I chose well!
